Position Summary

The Digital Developer is responsible for supporting efforts around course creation, online course delivery and ensuring the accurate and timely delivery of supporting materials. The person will be responsible for the pilot testing of course materials in the LMS from a student perspective, completing quality assurance testing of online course, and acting as a liaison for internal and external stakeholders involved with online courses. 

Responsibilities

  • Collaborates with colleagues across the Learning Experience team and Professional Development function to create engaging digital learning experiences delivered through our LMS.
  • Coordinates and supports the configuration for digital development within the LMS including the appearance, course objective information, specifications, etc., adhering to the direction and guidance from management.
  • Create course curriculum content master shells. Build eLearning learning components to be fully functional with the LMS platform for deployment. Develop and deliver relevant course materials, serving to support Operations with troubleshooting and supporting issues with fulfillment.
  • Helps to accurately identify, triage, troubleshoot and resolve any technical or learner issues with the Operations team in a prompt and timely manner.
  • Supports the Learning Experience team to provide usability, accessibility, and quality assurance across various digital learning components.
  • Assists in the documentation and enhancement of current process and procedures; suggest or collaborate with team regarding updates as needed.
  • Supports course releases and training communications.
  • Provides support in developing, coordinating, and/or conducting training for LMS functionality and limitations.
  • Engages with cross-functional teams to answer questions related course schedules, cancellations, and learner activity.
  • Researches and recommends new technologies and tools to enhance and improve digital learning experiences.
  • Remains knowledgeable and proficient in best practices, strategies, tools, and current preferences in curriculum and learning design and development.
  • Demonstrates commitment to valuing diversity and contributing to an inclusive working and learning environment.
  • Performs miscellaneous duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Strong technical problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Expertise in the use of eLearning development tools Experience using social learning technologies, a plus.
  • Working knowledge of instructional design theory.

Education and Work Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree in Instructional Design and Technology, Computer Science, IT Systems or related field preferred; Master's Degree in similar fields would be a plus.
  • Four plus (4+) years of experience in instructional technology, e-learning design and development, or related field.
  • LMS content management and education experience using LMS platforms (experience with D2L a plus)
  • Experience with development of online courses in a learning management setting
  • Course development and technology support in an academic setting.

Physical and Mental Demands

  • Work extended hours of overtime, when necessary.
  • Work in an office environment using dual monitor computer screens.
  • Sitting for extended periods.
