Position Summary

The Sr. Exam Content Development Manager is responsible for overseeing the credentialing examination development and publishing process from exam blueprint creation, through item writing and form development activities, to exam delivery and analysis. The successful candidate will oversee the creation of examinations of the highest quality and ensure compliance with procedures by utilizing principles of item and exam development. Specifically, the incumbent will manage internal quality control processes for all exam items and forms, oversee contractors and third parties to help develop products; maintain departmental policies and procedures, and ensure compliance with ISO 17024 requirements for third-party accreditation of the ISC2 certification programs. The incumbent will motivate and lead a diverse, high-performing team, utilizing effective talent management practices to attract and retain team members, ensuring high levels of team engagement, operations performance excellence, commitment to continuous learning and appropriate succession planning. This position may also serve as a content expert for item and exam development escalations and may be required to lead groups of Subject Matter Experts from all over the world in the production of cohesive, relevant, and challenging examination items of the highest quality.

 

Responsibilities

  • Plan, implement, and maintain ISC2 credentialing exams; including the execution of exam development workshops in support of new credential creation, existing credentialing management, and maintenance.
  • Interface with the third-party vendor(s) to perform analysis and quality control for test forms/pools.
  • Manage third-party contracts that meet ISC2 customer expectations with timetables, deliverables, high integrity and quality controls.
  • Assist in planning, preparing, managing and maintaining department’s budget.
  • Define Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for self, team members and the contract personnel that clearly define goals, deliverables, and schedules - Oversees the maintainance of item security and item inventory.
  • Ensure that all examinations are content valid and defensible.
  • Manage candidate comments and feedback regarding content.
  • Fill the role of workshop manager and a facilitator for ISC2 item writing and review workshops as needed.
  • Consult with other teams internally and externally to ISC2 (for example, customer support, exam administration, training vendors, etc.), and provide expertise to them to maintain customer satisfaction.
  • Contribute to the development and maintainance of Examination Team policies and procedures.
  • Ensure accurate candidate and public communications.
  • Understand and comply with ISO 17024.
  • Coordinate the translation of examinations and supporting materials into additional languages.
  • Oversee examination forensic and test invalidation processes for the Exam Content Development team.
  • Demonstrate commitment to valuing diversity and contributing to an inclusive working and learning environment.
  • Perform other duties as required.

Management Responsibility

  • Oversee and manage the ISC2 Exam Content Development team.
  • Oversee contracted exam development facilitators.

Qualifications

  • Previous personnel management experience leading a small to mid-sized team consisting of experienced professionals.

  • Constituent retention, volunteer management and motivational skills to support the maintenance and development of certification products.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills required.
  • Public speaking and presentation experience is highly desirable.
  • Proficiency in one or more second languages is desirable.

Education and Work Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university in Information Technology, Information Security, or related field is required.
  • A minimum of 8 years of experience is required in an IT related role, required.
  • A minimum of 5 years of full-time information security experience, required.
  • Previous management or supervisory experience leading experienced professionals.
  • CISSP certification is required.
  • Additional information security and assurance certifications, particularly those offered by ISC2, are desirable.

Physical and Mental Demands

  • Up to 15% travel required. Some international travel may be required.
  • Work in an office environment.
  • Ability to work under pressure of deadlines in a fast -paced environment.
  • Must have ability to concentrate and have attention to detail to ensure accuracy.
  • Must have problem-solving and critical thinking abilities.
  • Ability to multi-task and distribute efforts appropriately among tasks, manage competing deadlines, handle frequent interruptions and maintain a high level of productivity.
  • Flexibility to adapt quickly and easily to changing situation and priorities in a calm and professional manner.
